Little hints

So I just read through my blog for the last two months, and it cracks me up how many hints I have let on about getting married. I thought I would point them out to you so everyone else can be in on my little joke.

"My goals for today include booking airline tickets for an upcoming vacation" Hello honeymoon in Cabo Mexico!

"Pink shoes you are so how I feel today. Pink is my power color" Pink is one of my colors, and the shoes? You guessed it! Those are my wedding shoes! I am outrageous, right?!?!?

"There are mommy blogs and political blogs and engagement blogs and who knows what else!" Yup. Engagement blog. Exactly what this blog is becoming!

Pretty much the entire post labeled "Skittles" since that is my theme and it talks about me craving summer and berries and spending time with family and friends.

"All day yesterday, I was dreaming about cake." Yes, that would be because I was dreaming about what I wanted my wedding cake to look like. And also because I just like cake!

"Today at lunch I was commiserating with my friends about making more money." Because weddings are expensive of course!

"She tells me how easy it was to make her bouquet and decorate the reception. Nudge. Marriage. Don't stress, it's easy." Huh. Yup, I was planning decorations that day and trying to figure out flowers.

*chuckle* I am soooo sneaky! Do you like my little joke?

Wedding plans

I know I've been a slacker this last week. Things have been crazy what with this mandatory overtime thing (hello six hours in a week!) and training and one girl on leave. And on top of that, I have been trying to do at least one wedding related thing a day so I can feel a little more on top of things. I feel like I have gotten a lot done, I just feel overwhelmed at how much there is still to do. I am a details person, so sometimes I get a little caught up in the specifics, so this may be boring, but I am the writer so I will write what I want! (ugh! here we go, bridezilla coming out!)

Date
Yes, we have set the date. It will be Saturday July 11, 2009. Otherwise known as the most hectic/wonderful/stressful/happy day of my life. Scott will just breeze through. He will be tired, but not stressed. He just handles these things better than I do. A general outline of events will be as follows. Friday at noon I will be taking out my endowments at the Idaho Falls Temple. Friday evening we will have a small barbeque so the families can get to know one another. Saturday morning we will be sealed in the temple, after that we will do pictures on temple grounds and have a luncheon in Idaho Falls with a short but sweet ring exchange before we eat (since his family are not able to attend the actual sealing) and then will travel down to Pocatello. We will set up the reception, and do reception pictures the hour before the reception starts at 7 pm. At precisely 9 pm we will leave the reception and drive to Boise which is where we will be flying out of the next morning at (gasp) 7 am. We are flying to Mexico to honeymoon in Cabo for a week (everyone pray this whole swine flu thing is gone by then!).

I have my dress, and it is currently undergoing the alteration process to make it fit just right. I have shoes and necklace but am undecided about bracelet and earrings. Mom is making my veil and garter, and I am borrowing a hoop skirt from a friend.

Other plans are coming along slowly but surely. Jesslyn and I will be making some of the decorations this week, I already have sent off for my passport and have been shopping around for flowers and backdrops and the like. I have a friend doing my hair and another friend doing my cake. Things are definitely coming together, but it is a slow process, for sure.

More details to come later, after I figure them out that is...

Something sparkly

Alright, to all those of you who heard a rumor or were wondering, Scott gave me a little something sparkly last night. He took me to the river and we were looking across at the temple when he pulled it out. It is white gold with a kite set princess cut diamond and there are twelve diamonds set in to the band on the sides (six on each side), and it is soooooo beautiful. Scott had it designed and custom made for me, he chose what he wanted it to look like and what he thought I would love. Obviously he was right! I apologise that my camera phone does not even do it justice, but that is all the more reason that you need to see it in person!!!

Motivation and cleansing

As per my last blog, I am feeling very motivated this spring. I spent the evening shrugging off the inconsequential things in my life by way of a very large DI box. I spent two lovely hours sorting and tossing various items that have been weighing me down. I will not be controlled by my stuff. I refuse to allow it to take over every aspect of my life.

From clothing to office items, old paperwork to fake flowers, I purged a good portion of the clutter from the extra bedroom. It felt wonderful. I was flying.

My goals for today include booking airline tickets for an upcoming vacation (I guess the flying thing got me thinking about really flying), buying stamps and sending off all the things I have been meaning to send away, and emptying every garbage I can find. Now that I have emotionally sluffed off every negative thing that was holding me back, I can physically sluff off those things as well.
I am cleansed, I am new. (I am bordering on blasphemous. I just erased I am reborn...) I am happy. Nuff said...

Sunshine and other things

I am in the best of moods today. The sun is shining, the world is alive and life is moving forward.

I guess for the last three weeks I have been burying my head in the sand, hoping that things would take care of themselves. Now that I have looked around again, I realize that if I am going to get anything done, I need to take hold and just push through it. No more procrastination. I will make it happen through pure force of will. I have never been a person that just waits for stuff to happen, I am a determined, take charge kind of girl that doesn't take no for an answer.

Pink shoes, you are soooo exactly how I feel today. Pink is my power color!

Blogging

There are two types of people in this world. Exhibitionists and rubberneckers.

I am so enthralled with this world and its mini culture of blogging. How amazing that people are willing to write personal things about their daily lives and put them up so that anyone and everyone can see them! Closeted exhibitionists finally have a forum to display the things we think are important, while the rubberneckers can quietly "look" around the neighborhood and see all the little details that they were wondering about people they know without looking too nosy.

Hey, I admit it. I am an exhibitionist. I think my life is interesting and notable enough to write about it. Plus I love writing.

My mother is a rubbernecker. Unwilling to have her own post, she simply looks up people she knows and reads all their blogs. (the cat is out of the bag mom, you are caught red handed!)

The amazing thing is, no matter what you are looking for, you can usually find some sort of blog that tells that story.

There are mommy blogs and political blogs and engagement blogs and who knows what else! And then there are blogs like mine. Simple everyday happenings that I think are funny or cute or sad. But I am not writing so that other people can keep up on my life. I am writing because it is enjoyable and cathartic and therapeutic. I am writing so that I can remember the funny little things in my life, the things that were important to me or made me laugh or cry or whatever. And if other people enjoy what I write, that is just a strawberry on top. (because I don't like cherries)

Check out these blogs! They are for sure some of my favorites! Happy blogging everyone!

Bird brain

The branch was hosting a party for the relief society president who is moving. It was held at President Call's house, and was (surprise!) root beer floats. Scott and I stopped by for a bit to say hello and I was so enthralled at the scarlet macaw that the Pres has. It was beautiful, all red and brightly colored, and it was so funny to watch as it slid down the bars of it's cage. I think Pres Call named it Cocano and they said he brought it home when it was a baby from Hawaii.

This bird is so funny. It will bob/weave back and forth like a boxer in a fight when you stand in front of it. It doesn't like women, it was hissing at Kelly Call and myself whenever we would get too close. Cocano loves men though, whenever Scott would put his hand out, that bird would put it's head down like it wanted to be petted.

After we left the party, I admitted that I had been a bird brain as well, and had put off filing my taxes. Scott was so awesome, we picked up his laptop and went to a local wi-fi spot and got the forms that I needed. Then he took me back home and filled out all the forms for me! I was feeling pretty spoiled. So all is well again, taxes are done and sent off, and now I can concentrate on more important things!

Rainbows, hubcaps, and egg hunts

I thought that even with the rain on Saturday, Easter weekend was beautiful. I was driving over to Scott's house and saw the most beautifully brilliant rainbow right over east Idaho Falls. It was so amazing, the whole arc was visible, and there was a second lighter rainbow right next to it.

Scotland was so wonderful as to change out my winter tires for my summer tires on Saturday morning. What a surprise, I heard a noise out my back door, and when I walked outside he was rolling a tire up to my car, already half done with the job. Afterwards, he put the hubcaps on and went back to his house to work on his motorcycle. I headed over to his house to drop him off a tool, and on my way, I heard some guy yelling at me from the street. I turned around and drove back to him.

You just lost a hubcap! It is back there!

He said pointing down the road. I thanked him profusely and proceeded down the street to where he had indicated. Another gentleman walked out from his lawn holding two hubcaps. He handed them over to me through the window of my car.

That was the craziest thing! Both hubcaps popped off at the same time and rolled into my yard, landing one on top of the other! I think somebody has been messing with them!

I just smiled, and thanked him as well. I drove the mile to Scott's house and when he came up to the passenger side of the car he frowned and asked me if I had taken the hubcaps off. I assured him that I had not, and asked him which side the hubcaps that were resting on the floor of my car went to. He cringed and told me that it looked like I was missing all four. Oh dear. So the search for the other two hubcaps commenced, and both of us were able to find one each. Disaster averted!

On Sunday we went to the Bates house for dinner and watched in amusement as the only grandchild, Emmett, was directed to find various eggs and presents in the front yard. At only one and a half, he was rather confused by the activities. Poor kid, six different adults yelling directions at once, crayons, sandals, books and plastic eggs spread all over the yard and every time you try to open something or play with something for a second you are told no. *chuckle* That kid didn't know which end was up. Perhaps next year will be a little more fun for him. I swear the whole time he looked like he was about to cry...

All in all, it was a pretty fun weekend. I did a little cleaning and spent some time outside and with my boy so I am happy. And it really feels like spring might finally be here...

Hot tub adventures

Yesterday I sent a text to my mom.

One of these days, Scott and I are just going to show up at your house and join your hot tub party!
She replied

Just honk first in case we are skinny dipping!
Ewwwww.
So when my parents were sitting at home at last night, and they heard honking in the driveway, they knew they were in trouble.

Ya better not be skinny dipping cause we are here to get in the hot tub!
Turned out that the only one skinny dipping was John (the mo) and the parents didn't even get in with us, but we had fun visiting during our impromptu visit. Dad regaled us with horror stories of the courthouse, and mom described in painful detail what she got to see in the cataract surgery movie (of dad's). With conversation like that, I have no idea why I don't go down there more often. *smirk* But it was fun to have a quick road trip and soak and see my wonderful family.

Crock pot

I found a crock pot on my back step the other day.

There was a note on it that simply said
To: Christy

It is brand new. Shiny black and chrome. I think I'm in love.

I needed a new crock pot. Why? I will refer you to the "crock pot crap" entry from several months ago.

*sigh* It is so beautiful that I want to cry.
Only angels leave such wonderful things as crock pots...

Surprises

Last night as I was getting ready to leave work at eight p.m. Scott called me. I talked to him about plans for the night as I closed the blinds and clocked out. When I went outside to get into my car I heard a yell from the other direction and spun around to find him parked outside my office on his bike. This was a bit surprising being that I was making plans to meet him at my house. I have always said he was tricky...

Today, I surprised him by bringing him lunch. When I stopped by with a BLT and orange roll in hand, he was on the phone with a girl from the bank trying to clear up a problem with a bounced check from one of his people. I walked over to his desk and deposited my surprise on his desk and he stood up to give me a side hug while he finished up his conversation. Some guy on the other side of the office teased us
"Hey none of that, no hanky panky in here!"
and I laughed. I guess all the commotion caused Scott to get a little flustered, because as he hung up the phone, he said (to the bank girl)
"Ok yeah, I will call you back, I love you, thanks, bye"
all in a rush. Oops! He grimaced and said to me
"Now look what you made me do, I got all confused about who I was talking to. But I love Julie too..."
Huh? What I made you do? Great, now the moment he sees me he proclaims his love to some other girl. *laugh* Oh boy. I guess I did surprise him. And I bet he surprised Julie too... *snicker*

Misbehaving

Last night, Scott came over and we made elk steaks for dinner, courtesy of my brother and his hunting success.

After that we sat on the couch and talked, which only lasted until Scott decided the floor looked more comfortable. For some reason, I was super jumpy which is endlessly entertaining to him. He touches the back of my leg and I flinch and pull away because it tickles. He runs his fingers down my forearm and a shudder goes through me. He kisses my neck and I jerk away and cover the tingling spot with my hand in protest. Sometimes I am just ticklish. Definitely not all the time, and if I focus hard enough, occasionally I can shut it off and be immune to it. Last night was not one of those times.

A tickle war ensued and we ended up rolling on the floor as I shrieked/laughed until I couldn't breathe anymore. I pleaded with him to stop and wondered aloud what the neighbors would be thinking with all that ruckus at eleven at night.

This morning when I left for work, I walked outside into the cool spring air and saw my next door neighbor sweeping her porch. She gave me an amused smile and said hello before walking back into her apartment with a knowing look. I can only imagine the thoughts that were going through her head.

Oh well. I have never been very well behaved. Guess now is not the time to start...

My Scotland

This is my Scotland.
We found this last weekend at some crazy army surplus store. Funny, I don't think the army has an excess of Scotts fuel pumps, but whatever. Don't mind the two guys checking it out. They came free with the picture...

In Las Vegas, Kari and I had lunch at this tiny restaurant called Scotty Beans. I am trying to convince her that "Scotty Beans" would be a more appropriate nickname for him than her current preference, "Scotty the hottie." It just doesn't sound right coming from her...

This is Smitty after he has been working in the garage. Dirty boy!
.
Sometimes I get to just hang out and snap random picture of him. This amuses him for a bit, and then he just ignores me.

Last weekend, after we went to the funeral for baby Benjamin, Scott told me he wanted to go see some friends from his mission that live in Salt Lake. Since he was such a good sport about meeting all my friends, I agreed. When he pulled into a church parking lot, I figured he was lost. When he said that we were going to meet his friend Tovo there, I figured he was joking. When he introduced me to his mission president and told me that he had brought me to his mission reunion, I knew he was crazy.

What an experience! Tons of people were there, most of them with their spouses/kids or whatever. Some were his companions and dear friends, others he didn't know at all, but I think Scott spoke to just about everyone there. I was completely blown away at how sociable he was, sharing stories and introducing himself and me to everyone! It was a lot of fun listening to all of those former missionaries switch back and forth from English to Spanish as they laughed and told stories about Panama.

He keeps me on my toes, that is for sure. Whether he is showing up at work with a treat for me, or if he is introducing me to strangers, he is constantly surprising me.

on with the blogs

I won't lie, the last week has been rough. But I have decided to go forth and write despite the difficult circumstances. I failed to post some of the wonderful pictures of my trip since the week after was so crazy, so I will remedy that today.

Picture #1 My silly father

Yes, you are seeing that correctly. He is wearing a cowboy style double leather holster, and pointing a GPS walkie talkie at me. Cracks me up.

Picture #2 My crazy mother and the Sunny D

This would be a picture of the fermented Sunny D that my mother tried to poison us with. GAG. RETCH. PUKE. It was disgusting. But that didn't stop me from making both John and Lance drink it. *chuckle* Boys are dumb.

Picture #3 My superhero shoes

These are the tallest shoes I have ever put on. We found them at a store in Las Vegas. They are sooooo cute, but I was the jolly green giant with them on. I almost bought them, but reason prevailed in the form of my sister Kari.

Pictures #4, 5, & 6 Lance in his homo costume

These are super funny. We found this plastic see-through shirt for sale for some exorbitant price. It really is pink plastic. Lance is going to be a homo for Halloween this year. (Just kidding, we couldn't afford it. Guess he will have to get by with a cheap blond wig this year...)

Why I changed it

Trust.

Trust seems to be the issue of my life. Some people take something you tell them in confidence and spread it to everyone who will listen.

My blog has a new name now. If you are reading it, I trust you enough to give the new address to you.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Lesson learned.

To Rachel

My dearest Rachel.
My heart aches for you.
You are in my prayers.
Love,
Kristi
